A supercharger kit is the single biggest-ticket bolt-on on this site for the 5.0L V8 -- every kit in this guide runs $8,200 to $10,250, more than three times what a cat-back or intake costs. In exchange, it's also the biggest real power jump available: even the most conservative kit here claims triple-digit horsepower gains, something no exhaust or intake on this engine gets close to.

Five brands sell a 5.0L-specific supercharger kit right now: Whipple, ProCharger, Roush, Edelbrock, and Ford Performance. Every number in this guide is a CLAIMED figure -- published by the manufacturer, not independently dyno-tested by a third party -- which is worth knowing going in. None of these five brands has a TESTED (independent-dyno) claim on file for any of their 5.0L kits. That doesn't mean the numbers are wrong; it means treat them as the manufacturer's own engineering figures, not a lab result you could reproduce on a different dyno on a different day.

What you're starting with

Stock output climbed a little each generation: 385 hp / 387 lb-ft for 2015-2017 (Gen 2), 395 hp / 400 lb-ft for 2018-2020 (Gen 3), 400 hp / 410 lb-ft for 2021-2026 (Gen 4). Which kits fit your truck depends entirely on which of these three generations you have -- none of the eleven kits below cross a generation boundary.

2015-2017 (Gen 2)

Two brands, three kits.

Whipple, two stages

gain
up to 700 total (~+315 over stock) hp / up to 600 total tq

price
$9,299.99

Whipple's Stage 1 kit claims up to 700 hp / 600 lb-ft at the flywheel -- a roughly 315 hp jump over the 385 hp stock rating. It's a built-to-order kit (10-14 business days) and needs 91+ octane once installed.

gain
765 total (at the flywheel, 93 octane) hp / 650 lb-ft total (at the flywheel, 93 octane) tq

Buy at Whipple Superchargers

Step up to Stage 2 and Whipple claims 765 hp / 650 lb-ft at the flywheel, on 93 octane specifically -- the highest number in this generation. Whipple's Gen 6 kits ship with a flash tuning tool.

ProCharger Stage 2

gain
60-70% increase over stock (no total hp figure published on page checked) hp
manufacturer claim
price
$8,473.21

5/5 difficulty
Buy at Steeda

ProCharger doesn't publish a single flywheel number for this kit, just a 60-70% increase over stock -- call it a ballpark 615-655 hp on a 385 hp truck, though that's this site doing the arithmetic, not a ProCharger-stated total. Sold through Steeda, this is the cheapest kit in this generation, and tune/programming is included per the listing.

2018-2020 (Gen 3)

Four brands, one kit each -- the most crowded generation for 5.0L supercharger choices.

Roush R2650, 650 hp

gain
650 total (+255 over stock) hp / 610 total tq
manufacturer claim
price
$8,199.99
install
5/5 difficulty
Buy at AmericanTrucks

Roush's own number: 650 hp / 610 lb-ft, a claimed +255 hp over the 395 hp stock rating. CARB EO numbers are cited by model year (D-418-33 for 2018-2019, D-418-39 for 2020). Built-to-order with a 2-4 week lead time.

Whipple G6 Stage 2, 775 hp

gain
775 total (at the flywheel, 93 octane) hp / 655 lb-ft total (at the flywheel, 93 octane) tq
manufacturer claim
price
$9,999.99
install
5/5 difficulty
Buy at Whipple Superchargers

The highest claimed number in this generation: 775 hp / 655 lb-ft at the flywheel on 93 octane. Includes an HP Tuners MPVI4 flash tool and cites CARB EO #D-231-71.

ProCharger Stage II

gain
60-65% increase over stock (no total hp figure published on pages checked) hp / up to 65% increase over stock tq
manufacturer claim
price
$8,724
install
5/5 difficulty
Buy at AmericanTrucks

Same story as the 2015-2017 kit: a percentage claim (60-65% over stock) rather than a total, plus a tune-preloaded flash programmer included. The price shown is for the black-finish head unit; a satin-finish version is sold too.

Edelbrock E-Force Stage 1

gain
601 total hp / 468 lb-ft total tq
manufacturer claim
price
$8,995.95
install
5/5 difficulty
Buy at AmericanTrucks

Edelbrock claims 601 hp / 468 lb-ft total -- the most modest number of the four Gen 3 kits, and the only positive-displacement (Roots-style) design in this guide; the other four are all centrifugal. This SKU includes the tuner; Edelbrock also sells a tune-less version (158120) for buyers who want to self-tune. Backed by a 3-year/36,000-mile powertrain warranty per the listing -- the only Gen 3 kit here that states one.

2021-2026 (Gen 4) -- and the Pro Power Onboard trap

Four kits, and this is the generation where a real fitment trap shows up: Ford's Pro Power Onboard option (the dual-alternator onboard generator) changes what supercharger kit you need on three of these four.

Whipple G6 Stage 2 (2021-2023 only)

gain
775 total (at the flywheel) hp / 675 lb-ft total (at the flywheel) tq
manufacturer claim
price
$9,999.99
install
5/5 difficulty
Buy at Whipple Superchargers

775 hp / 675 lb-ft claimed at the flywheel. This exact SKU is for trucks WITHOUT Pro Power Onboard -- Whipple sells a separate kit (about $300 more) built specifically for PPO trucks. It also doesn't cover 2024-2026; Whipple uses a different part family for those years, so if you have a 2024+ truck, this isn't your kit.

ProCharger Stage 2 (2021-2023 only)

gain
75-80%+ increase over stock (no total hp figure published on page checked) hp
manufacturer claim
price
$8,299
install
5/5 difficulty
Buy at AmericanTrucks

A 75-80%+ claim over the 400 hp stock rating -- roughly 700-720 hp by this site's own back-of-envelope math, not a ProCharger-stated total. Like the Whipple kit above, ProCharger sells a separate kit for 2024-2026 trucks; this one is 2021-2023 only. Pro Power Onboard fitment isn't stated on ProCharger's own page -- if you have PPO, confirm directly with them before ordering.

Roush R2650, 705 hp (2021-2026)

gain
705 total (+305 over stock) hp / 635 total tq
manufacturer claim
price
$8,649.99
install
5/5 difficulty
Buy at AmericanTrucks

The only kit in this generation that covers the full 2021-2026 span without a mid-run part-number split. Roush claims 705 hp / 635 lb-ft, a stated +305 hp over stock. It explicitly excludes Pro Power Onboard trucks -- no separate PPO-specific Roush kit is on file, so if you have PPO, this brand may not have an option for you at all right now.

Ford Performance, 700 hp

gain
700 total (at 6,500 rpm) hp / 590 lb-ft total (at 5,000 rpm) tq
manufacturer claim
price
$10,250
install
5/5 difficulty
Buy at Ford Performance Parts

The only kit sold directly by Ford itself, and the only one with a full model-year-by-model-year CARB EO breakdown on file (D-231-89 for 2021-2023, D-231-110 for 2024, D-231-130 for 2025, D-231-154 for 2026). Ford claims 700 hp at 6,500 rpm / 590 lb-ft at 5,000 rpm. Pro Power Onboard trucks need an additional part (about $325) alongside this kit, not a different kit entirely -- the one PPO path in this generation that doesn't mean buying a whole separate SKU. Backed by a 3-year/36,000-mile Ford Performance Parts warranty when dealer-installed.

Install and what's actually included

Every kit in this guide is rated a 5 out of 5 on this site's install-difficulty scale -- this is not a weekend driveway job for most owners. A supercharger kit means removing the intake manifold and throttle body, mounting a new blower assembly, running new belts and often a new intercooler loop, and loading a tune. Expect a shop install unless you're already comfortable doing serious engine-bay work.

Tune/programmer inclusion varies by kit: Whipple (both stages, all three generations), ProCharger (on the complete-kit version), Edelbrock, and Ford Performance all state a tune or flash tool is included. Roush's listings don't state one way or the other on file -- confirm with Roush or the seller before assuming a tune is bundled.

FAQ

Which kit makes the most power?

By the manufacturers' own claimed numbers: Whipple's Stage 2 claims the highest total in every generation it's sold in (765 hp for 2015-2020, 775 hp for 2021-2023). Roush's 705 hp kit is the highest claimed total for 2021-2026 specifically. Remember these are all CLAIMED, not independently tested, figures.

I have Pro Power Onboard. What are my options?

For 2021-2023 trucks: Whipple sells a dedicated PPO kit (not the one above), and Ford Performance's kit works with PPO if you add the required extra part. Roush's kit explicitly excludes PPO trucks, and ProCharger's PPO fitment isn't stated -- ask them directly. For 2024-2026 PPO trucks, Roush's 705 hp kit is the one option on file here that covers those years at all -- confirm PPO compatibility with Roush before ordering.

Are any of these emissions-legal for a CARB state like California?

Ford Performance's kit has the clearest, most complete CARB EO documentation of the five, with a number for every model year 2021-2026. Roush's 2018-2020 kit and the Whipple kits generally cite CARB EO numbers too, though not every specific SKU restates one. Several kits (both ProCharger kits, the Edelbrock kit) don't state a CARB status on the pages checked -- don't assume either way, confirm with the seller before buying if this matters where you live. Nothing here is legal advice.

Why isn't there a kit for 2011-2014 trucks?

Honest gap: no 5.0L supercharger kit for the 2011-2014 (Gen 1) F-150 is active on this site right now. If that changes, it'll show up here.
