Privacy policy
last updated July 18, 2026
RideBuildList is a parts research and build-list site for vehicle owners. This policy explains what information the site handles. We still don't have user accounts and we still don't sell data — but as of this update the site does run basic analytics, log outbound clicks, and offer an optional email signup, so this policy now covers those.
What we collect
The site has no user accounts. It does run a standard analytics tool (Google Analytics or Cloudflare Web Analytics) to see which pages get visited and which outbound retailer links and "add to build" actions get used — aggregate usage patterns, not anything tied to your real-world identity. It also logs, in our own database, which part and retailer an outbound buy link was for, the page it was clicked from, and when — used to see which retailers actually convert, not to track you individually across visits. Like nearly every website, our hosting infrastructure also keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps) for security and uptime.
Email signup
The homepage footer and individual part pages offer an optional "price-drop alerts" email signup. If you use it, we store your email address and the page you signed up from. We don't use any outside email-marketing service yet — no automated emails go out today — and we don't share this list with anyone. Signing up is always optional; nothing on the site requires it.
Shared build pages and the builder's cart also offer an optional "watch this build" email signup. If you use it, we store your email address and the build code for the specific parts list you asked to watch (the same code that's in the page's own URL — it identifies a set of parts and a truck, not you). As with price-drop alerts, this is capture only: no automated emails go out today. A weekly price-watch email is planned but not yet built; this policy will be updated when it ships.
Cookies
We do not set advertising cookies or sell any data to ad networks. Whichever analytics tool is active may set its own first-party cookies (Google Analytics does; Cloudflare Web Analytics does not) to distinguish visits — standard for that category of tool, not used to build an ad profile. Our hosting provider may separately set strictly operational cookies needed to serve the site.
Outbound retail links
When you leave this site through a link to a retailer, that retailer's own privacy policy governs what happens there. Affiliate links may include a referral tag that tells the retailer the visit came from us; it does not carry personal information about you from this site. Amazon links in particular always go straight to Amazon (never through an intermediate redirect on our end, per Amazon's own program rules) — clicking one is logged the same way as any other outbound link, just via a different mechanism.
Changes
If the site adds features that touch personal information beyond what's described above, this policy will be updated first and the date above will change.
