A monotube rear shock that replaces the factory unit on a stock-height or barely-lifted truck. Fox sells it as a single shock, so you buy two for the rear axle. A monotube design keeps the oil and gas separated, which is why it fades less than a worn factory shock when you are towing on a rough road.

why this one — The straightforward rear upgrade for a truck that is not lifted, since it is valved for the 0 to 1 inch range and needs no other parts. It is also the cheapest Fox on this list. What it does not do is give you any adjustment: there is no reservoir and no external knob, so if you want to tune the ride you want the Performance Elite 2.5 instead.
