A deeper aluminum pan that bolts on where the factory transmission pan came off, so the Aisin carries more fluid. The extra fluid and the cast cooling fins both work to keep transmission temperature down when you are towing at weight.
why this one — Against the PPE pan for the same transmission this is the more expensive of the two at 475.95 dollars, and what you get for it is a heavier casting meant to stiffen the case plus an OEM-style magnetic drain plug so future fluid changes do not mean dropping the pan again. The downside is that BD does not publish how much extra fluid it holds, which PPE does, so if you want that number before you buy, buy the PPE.
