GMC, Sierra 2500HD/3500HD

If you own a Sierra 2500HD or 3500HD, the front end sags the second you hook up a gooseneck, or the rear axle wraps under load until you feel it in the steering wheel, suspension is usually the first real modification, not the last. This guide covers what the catalog actually has in stock for this truck: leveling kits, lift kits, traction bars, and load-support air springs. RideBuildList earns commissions from some retailer links.
Every part below is listed to fit a Duramax diesel Sierra HD. The catalog does not currently carry gas-engine (6.0L Vortec) suspension listings for this platform, so if you have the gas motor, treat fitment as unconfirmed until you check with the seller.
2011 to 2019 trucks
This is the older body style, covering both the LML and L5P Duramax. If the truck rides nose-high empty and nose-down towing, load-support is usually the fix before you touch ride height. The Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Rear Air Spring Kit w/ Internal Jounce Bumper mounts alongside the factory leaf springs and adds up to 5,000 lbs of support with no drilling, though Air Lift's own page doesn't break out Sierra-specific years, so confirm your exact year before ordering.
For a straight front leveling job, Cognito Motorsports Truck Cognito 3-Inch Premier Leveling Kit with Cognito 2.0 Remote Reservoir Shocks for 11-19 Silverado/Sierra 2500/3500 2WD/4WD pairs a 3-inch lift with remote-reservoir shocks in one kit. If you just need a shock swap without changing ride height or you're pairing it with a separate leveling kit, BDS sells three versions of its FOX 2.0 front shock for this generation depending on how much lift you're running: BDS Suspension FOX 2.0 IFP Front Shock | 1.5-3.5 Inch Lift | Performance Series | Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500 / 3500 HD (11-19), BDS Suspension FOX 2.0 Remote Reservoir Front Shock | 1.5-3.5 Inch Lift | Performance Series | Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500HD (11-19), and BDS Suspension FOX 2.0 Remote Reservoir Front Shock | 0-1 Inch Lift | Performance Series | Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500HD (11-19).
Already leveled and now the factory upper control arms are binding or chewing through ball joints? That's what ReadyLift Xtreme-Duty Fabricated A-Arm Kit is for. It's a 4130 chromoly replacement A-arm with a spring-loaded 1-ton ball joint, and ReadyLift says one part number covers both 2WD and 4WD on this generation. It has not validated Single Cab fitment, so confirm before you buy if that's your cab.
Towing a lot and the rear axle wraps or hops under hard acceleration or braking? S&B Filters Traction Bar Kit for 2001-2019 Silverado and Sierra 2500/3500 & 1994-2002 Ram 2500/3500 is S&B's traction bar for this generation, and the same part also covers the equivalent Ram 2500/3500 years if you're cross-shopping.
| Part | Install time | Difficulty |

| Cognito 3-Inch Premier kit | 3 to 6 hrs, plus alignment | 3 of 5 |

2020 to 2026 trucks
This is the current body style, running the updated L5P Duramax. The cheapest honest way to level it is ReadyLift 2in Front Leveling Kit w/ Forged Torsion Key, a forged torsion key that re-indexes the factory torsion bars about 2 inches without replacing springs or shocks. ReadyLift rates it for up to 35-inch tires on 20x9 wheels, but it does not fit the AT4X trim, and it needs ReadyLift's own torsion-key unloading tool sold separately.
If your factory shocks are already worn, the upgrade is ReadyLift 2in Front Leveling Kit w/ Falcon 2.1 Shocks and Forged Torsion Key, the same 2-inch torsion key kit bundled with Falcon 2.1 monotube shocks (also sold through a second retailer as ReadyLift 2" Leveling Kit w/Falcon 2.1 shocks 2020-26 Silverado, Sierra 2500HD, 3500HD, worth a price check between the two). ReadyLift notes Sierra and Silverado have different fender openings, so minor trimming may be needed depending on your tire size.
Cognito has the deepest lineup for this generation, running from a 3-inch leveling kit up to a full 4-inch performance lift with billet upper control arms: Cognito Motorsports Truck Cognito 3-Inch Premier Billet UCA Leveling Kit with Cognito 2.0 Remote Reservoir Shocks for 20-26 Silverado/Sierra 2500/3500 2WD/4WD, Cognito Motorsports Truck Cognito 4-Inch Standard Lift Kit with Cognito 2.0 IFP Shocks for 2020-2026 Silverado/Sierra 2500/3500 2WD/4WD, Cognito Motorsports Truck Cognito 4-Inch Performance Lift Kit with Cognito 2.0 RR Shocks & SM Series UCAs for 2020-2026 Silverado/Sierra 2500/3500 2WD/4WD, and Cognito Motorsports Truck Cognito 4-Inch Performance Billet UCA Lift Kit with Cognito 2.0 RR Shocks for 20-26 Silverado/Sierra 2500/3500 2WD/4WD. Zone Offroad covers similar ground with a 3-inch and a 5-inch 4WD lift kit, Zone Offroad 3 Inch Lift Kit | Chevy Silverado & GMC Sierra 2500HD (20-26) 4WD and Zone Offroad 5 Inch Lift Kit | Chevy Silverado & GMC Sierra 2500HD (20-26) 4WD. BDS also lists a 2-inch leveling kit for this generation, BDS Suspension 2 Inch Leveling Kit | Chevy Silverados or GMC Sierra 2500HD/3500HD (20-26), though the price on that listing looked out of line with every other 2-inch kit here when we pulled it, so check the live price closely before you buy.
For load, S&B Filters Traction Bar Kit for 2020-2026 Silverado/Sierra 2500/3500 & 2011-2016 Ford F350/F450 DRW is S&B's traction bar for this generation and doubles as a fit for the equivalent Ford F-350/F-450 dually years, if that's useful for cross-shopping parts availability.
| Part | Install time | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|
| ReadyLift 2-inch torsion key kit | ~3.5 hrs, excludes alignment | 3 of 5 |
| ReadyLift w/ Falcon shocks | 4 hrs, bolt-on | 3 of 5 |
| Cognito kits (any version) | 3 to 6 hrs, plus alignment | 3 of 5 |
| Zone Offroad lift kits | 3 to 6 hrs, plus alignment | 3 of 5 |
| S&B traction bar | 3 to 6 hrs, plus alignment | 3 of 5 |
What the catalog doesn't tell you
None of these parts publish a horsepower or torque figure, and that's expected. Suspension changes ride height, load capacity, and handling, not power, so there's nothing to test or claim on that front. What the catalog is honest about instead: fitment exceptions. The AT4X trim is excluded from at least one leveling kit above. Single Cab fitment is unvalidated on the A-arm kit. Sierra and Silverado share most of these part numbers but ReadyLift flags fender opening differences between the two trucks on more than one listing, so don't assume a Silverado writeup applies exactly to your Sierra without checking.
Get an alignment, every time
Every shock, leveling kit, and lift kit in this guide needs an alignment afterward, and it is almost never included in the listed price. Skipping it is the single fastest way to burn through a set of tires in one season. If you're adding bigger wheels or tires after any of this, check clearance before you order rubber, not after.
The legal part, in plain terms
Changing ride height, tire size, or load rating can touch state inspection rules, DOT bumper height requirements, and your manufacturer's warranty, and none of that is settled by what a retailer's product page claims. This isn't legal advice. If you're not sure whether a lift height or tire size is street legal in your state, or whether it voids a factory warranty, that's a question for an attorney or your dealer, not a parts catalog.
