An intercooler cools the compressed air coming off the turbo before it reaches the engine. Cooler, denser air burns more completely. This is PPE's bolt-on replacement intercooler kit for the 2020-2023 Ram 1500 with the 3.0L EcoDiesel - the newer, third-generation EcoDiesel (DT body), not the older 2014-2019 engine.
why this one — PPE builds the core 59% larger with more fins than the factory piece, in an all-aluminum bar-and-plate design with welded end tanks instead of the factory's crimped plastic tanks, and says that cuts air pressure loss through the system by 30%. In their own testing, intake air temperatures stayed close to outside air temperature. None of that is an independent dyno test, just the manufacturer's own numbers.
