The JB4 is a piggyback tuner. It plugs into two sensor connectors under the hood and changes the signals the factory computer sees, which raises turbo boost without rewriting the ECU. You control it from a phone over Bluetooth, and it unplugs in minutes.

why this one — The 2.7L Turbo has very little tuning support available, and this is the one well established option for it. Burger claims up to 85 wheel horsepower and 120 wheel torque on an otherwise stock truck, and because nothing is flashed it is fully reversible and not VIN locked. If what you want is a flashed ECU calibration, this is not that.
