A turbocharger uses exhaust flow to spin a compressor that packs more air into the engine. This is a drop-in replacement for the factory variable-geometry turbo with a re-machined compressor housing and a larger wheel, aimed at quicker spool and more airflow than stock.
why this one — The important thing here is that it keeps every factory turbo function, including the exhaust brake and the cold-weather warm-up cycle, which cheap drop-in turbos often break. Fleece also lists CARB Executive Order D-834-2 for it, so it is a 50-state street legal part rather than race-use-only. The honest downsides are the price and that Fleece publishes no hp or torque number for it, so anyone quoting you a specific gain is guessing.
