This is the pipe that runs from the turbo to the intercooler, called the "hot side" because the air has not been cooled yet. The factory pipe on these trucks is only 2.5 inches wide, which can choke airflow once boost goes up. This kit swaps it for a 3-inch aluminum pipe with new silicone boots.

why this one — This one listing covers three Duramax engine generations (LLY, LBZ and LMM), so it is the right pick for a wide range of 2004.5-2010 trucks. Mishimoto says the bigger pipe cuts restriction and lowers exhaust gas temperatures, but they do not publish a horsepower figure, so plan on this as an airflow and durability upgrade, not a guaranteed power number. Current price is on sale from $392.00.

why no number is shown

Mishimoto claims the larger 3-inch hot-side pipe provides "a significant increase in airflow that results in more power and lower EGTs" versus the restrictive 2.5-inch factory pipe, but publishes no specific HP/TQ number. source ↗
