This replaces just the hot-side pipe, the one that runs from the turbo to the intercooler before the air is cooled, on the newer L5P Duramax. It swaps the factory 2.5-inch pipe and resonator for a 3-inch aluminum pipe with no resonator, which is meant to flow more freely.
why this one — Mishimoto states this pipe is up to 55 percent less restrictive than the stock piece, one of their more specific claims for this product line, though they still do not attach a horsepower number to it. It only replaces the hot side, so a buyer who wants the whole loop upgraded would also need Mishimoto's matching cold-side piece, sold separately.
