A downpipe is the section of pipe right after the turbochargers that carries exhaust away from the engine. This is just the two downpipes, upgraded to larger stainless steel pipes, connecting straight back into the factory midpipe and catback behind it. It keeps the catalytic converters (the emissions device that cleans exhaust) in place.
